Book Review: Filthy Vows

book reviewWould you tell your husband everything?

Every torrid thought?
Every twisted fantasy?
The forbidden images that slink into your mind in your most vulnerable moments?

I shouldn’t have. I hesitated to. But I did.

And my husband? He gave them all to me.

And give them he did.

This book tells the story about Elle and Easton, a married couple who met in college, played around with their mental and chemical attraction and got married. Easton is tall, athletic, and charming baseball pro who’s on the verge of making it big and Elle is ready to be the new wife to stick by his side. After a fun ride in college and a rather famous career start, their marriage is now overshadowed by the dooming what if’s and what if not’s. A sports injury, mounting debt, and a childless marriage put their relationship in a rocky position.

“The issue was, I wanted more. A lot more. And in that dark tent, in the sound of my husband’s deepening sighs, I felt my sexual wings unfurl.”

Elle and Easton have a passionate marriage founded by love and solidified by an explosive sexual chemistry. This marriage is bound by trust, understanding and emotion. They fit with each other beautifully. While she is a convoluted piece of mess, he understand or at least tries to make sense of that mess. The dynamic between them is intriguing, sexy and real smutty. There is plenty of humor and fun to go around that is heightened by the presence of secondary characters.

However, Elle’s heart is overwhelmed by the forbidden desires. Desires that are crackling with fire and desperate to explode out of her heart. The taste of the forbidden possibility fuelled her yearnings and the resulting juicy nectar prompted her never ending sexual fantasies. And Easton worshipped each one of her dirty and untamed dreams. He not only embraced her fantasies but also encouraged them.

“It turns me the fuck on to see you in your sexual element. It makes me feel this raw need to hold you down and fuck a dozen orgasms out of you.”

Soon, their fantasy takes shape in the form of their “tired and heartbroken” friend Aaron, who is going through a divorce. The Author let us simmer in anticipation of the threesome to come in more than 80 percent of the book. The resulting threesome was sizzling hot and left me panting for more. They spiced up the holy hotness out of this book. The author released the depths of all the emotions onto the pages. Steamy doesn’t even begin to cover the eroticism that flowed throughout the book. . It got downright filthy and the book proved to be true to its name.

Even though the title was fairly self-explanatory, I was still expecting more from this book. Shoot me but I want a solid storyline to indulge myself in the sweetness of all the debauchery that Torre fabricated. While the beginning of the story did promise me the struggles of a married couple, it soon turned out to be nothing more than a series of sexual escapades hiding behind an unexplored plot.

I take issue with the entire first chapter. It was heavily invested in the morphology of various kinds of dicks out there in the world. Pretty penis, ugly penis, misshapen penis, thick, beautiful, perfect penis, The Berenstain Bears of penises, masculine penis, nice penis. The picture that formed in my head with so many penises was not pretty to say the least. It was raunchy at first but soon got unrealistically annoying. I never understood why the topic was of such grave importance.

Chelsea is another subject that I do not understand. Her dirty jokes soon turned less witty and more vexing. Too many pages were filled with her indistinct chatter and started to get on my nerves.

Everything aside, this book was well written, sensual and hot as fuck. There’s a second installment in the series, so we haven’t reached to the culmination of this story yet. Alessandra Torre is one heck of an author and I’m a huge fan of her novels. If you are new to her works then I won’t recommend this book to introduce you to her. She has written plenty of sexy, erotic and amazing romance that will leave you spellbound.
